Balance boards and wobble boards have become a large icon in the arena of exercising, emerging with different makers, their own carrying bags, diverse sizes and styles and a vast number of routines to accompany them. Because the design is simple, these routines involve, as the name implies, balance.

The primary design of all balance boards and wobble boards are similar, it is a section of material placed over the smaller section of materials so it would wobble either direction. Most of the time these are rounded on the edges and etched into an oblong formation, having a tiny foam or rubberized tube underneath it that it sits upon. The terms balance board, and wobble board are used almost interchangeably, as their functions are almost the same and wobble boards are just balance boards in which the base piece is fastened to a top portion, making the top component of the cylinder, that attaches to the plank, flat where they meet.

Wobble boards were originally intended for skiers and then later on surfers, to practice while it was not their season, yet since then it has become a training option for all sports, and several types of karate for physical fitness. The wobble board not only helps boost balance but motor coordination, fat distribution along with core muscular strength. Wobble boards also help developmentally challenged children because balancing helps the brain develop sensory abilities. They have also been used by ballerinas to practice to be lighter on their toes, and for guitarists and singers to learn the control of airflow, and ways to hold their instrument while remaining extravagant and in control. Some swear the wobble board helps writers block and spurs on inspiration.

The levels of difficulty change due to the various angles of degree you may set them at while balancing. A toddler or an eighty year old often will top out around ten degrees on the balance board, whereas a skier or pilates teacher can control about twenty-four degrees. To go from ten to 16 degrees requires approximately seven months of daily practice. To go from 16 to twenty-two degrees can take you about two and a half years of practice, many times each day. Balance boards might not appear to be the most challenging exercise, but essentially, it is one that takes time, determination, and a good skill with balancing.

With its variety of uses, it is easy to understand why balance boards and wobble planks are becoming so popular in our society, because of everybody using it from musicians, snowboarders, to handicapped children and yoga instructors. It's an innovative and easy tool that is easy to construct and normal to find, and it is just a simple way to fitness.
